Exploring my own backyard has become especially interesting in the past couple of weeks. So interesting, in fact, I have little time to review my photos or write much about what I have been seeing. Last evening (after the sun had nearly left the sky) I found Monarch eggs on the underside of one of our swamp milkweed plants...a wonderful discovery!
Today I was sitting in the middle of my pollinator garden when I noticed these remarkable little yellow and red eggs on the underside of my wormwood. I was excited to find something new - eggs I have never seen before and, on a plant that is absolutely gorgeous.
I bought a tiny specimen of A. absinthium last year at a local nursery and she is thriving. Right now she is covered in tiny blooms and nearly five feet tall! Her delicate grey-green leaves are simply beautiful swaying in the breeze.
While I will not imbibe in her botanical spirit any time soon, I believe I will gather some of her leaves and dry them in bundles. I am thinking I might make some wild and luxurious sachets!
