It has been raining for days. Our local body of water, the Swatara Creek, was last measured at 13.46 feet (flood stage is 7.00 ft). Roads are closed, hiking trails are under water...
The next 24 hours are supposed to bring more rain...and more flooding. The Swatara Creek is expected to crest at 14.6 feet by tomorrow morning and then (thankfully) begin to recede.
Tonight, after dinner, we took a walk around our quiet backyard. I bought seed today to fill the feeders and discovered sunflowers sprouting in the Droll Yankee! Days of rain, warm and humid temperatures plus peeks of sunshine created the perfect conditions for seedlings.
No sign of the baby bunny. Mr. Catbird was screeching. Lots of damp bumblebees are taking refuge on the undersides of leaves...and the monarch caterpillars - waterproof - are growing and growing as they eat and eat and eat...♥
