On Saturday, the weather changed. As I waved goodbye to Michael and Benjamin (headed off to a bandsaw demonstration), I felt cool air moving through the screendoor. No bright, unforgiving sunshine. No torrential downpours. No tropical humidity. It felt seasonal.
I spent the afternoon outside. Oh! It felt nice. I pulled grasses from the flowerbeds and harvested herbs. I found moths and butterflies and a black swallowtail caterpillar (I’d seen the female adhere her eggs to my bronze fennel weeks ago!). The air was crisp - not cold, but cool. The overcast sky created a calm - the reflection of light in our yard - our plants looked so lovely and natural without the harsh whitening effect of sunlight.
The world felt a little bit transformed. And I had not expected it…it was a pleasure, indeed! ♥
