The Buck Moon, July 26, 2018 in the Northern Hemisphere

...that full bellied moon she’s a shinin’ on me...
— Gregory Alan Isakov, "That Moon Song"

After five full days of rain, today it was sunny. I wasn't looking forward to the sun, though...I was eager to see the moon. She didn't disappoint.

From our backyard we watched...in a near cloudless sky she rose higher and higher above the treeline...above the utility wires and into the inky night. Using our binoculars we could bring her up-close and gaze at her ancient rocky surface...seemingly, right before our eyes.

The Buck Moon - named for the white-tailed deer who are maturing and growing their antlers now. After dark storm clouds and torrential rain, she is a magical gift. ♥
