The images in this collection represent a sampling of the flora and fauna found within my own small 6,686 sq ft property in early to mid-summer.
My family re-designed our entire property so that it might serve as a living landscape, a healthy green space thriving within the commercially developed areas of the Lebanon Valley, part of the Great Appalachian Valley, which is a central feature of the Appalachian Mountain system.
Since adding 80+ species of native plants to our landscape we have created a wildlife habitat that provides us with hours of enjoyment. Additionally, we are protecting and cultivating a number of vulnerable woodland plants and growing our own medicinal herbs.
Late-summer brings a host of visitors to our backyard. Many of the plants are still lush and green while late-season flowers bloom and many of our mid-summer flowers re-bloom.
